Vanguard Princess

I have been playing Vanguard Princess: Senjin no Himegimi (ヴァンガードプリンセス 先陣の姫君) and that is also why there were no blog updates lately. It is a free game developed by ex-Capcom programmer Tomoaki Sugeno, nicknamed Suge9 who also worked on famous games like Resident Evil 3 and many other titles. Well…who cares?

The game uses the Fighter Maker 2nd engine and is only available for the Windows platform. However I did manage to run the game on a Linux machine, by using Wine. The fighting game crashed on my Windows machine, probably because of the unicode settings, but in eventually I managed to run the game on both operating systems.

I hate using controllers, so I’ve been playing the Japanese game using my keyboard. I’ve managed to do some special moves and super combos. I play a lot of Street Fighter IV, so it wasn’t really hard for me! I haven’t tried the hard gaming mode though. You can play the game in story-mode or multi-player arcade mode like many similar fighting games.

The latest version is 1.07c and can be downloaded from many sources. The minimum system requirements are again very low and it should run on any PC or even a mobile device. Also you may connect a 4-button game controller!

The overall gameplay is pretty good and fuck the story if you can’t read Japanese! I just want to beat some anime girls and hear them screaming! Twisted

There will be an improved version of the game soon:

Very good and it is also free!

As far as doujin fighting games go, Vanguard Princess is pretty unique. I like it.
