Battle Royale 2 and a lot of frustrations
Live ActionWhile I am almost cracking my brains out of my head, because of programming in Actionscript 3 for a school project and I still haven’t finished a lot of schoolwork and paid design jobs for this weekend and next week, I still decided to write a quick review of Battle Royale two.
Wow, that was a very long sentence! Anyway, before I am going to start the review, I will tell you things that probably won’t be interesting to you. Why am I the only fucking programming dude in my project group? The project is about creating a serious game for a hospital in Flash with Actionscript 3. I used to be a IT student, but that does not mean that they should leave the whole fucking programming part of the game to me and doing nothing themselves these days! Don’t I deserve a free weekend this weekend? Also, they are so fucking slow in delivering artwork and the game should be finished within a few days. How can I program a game when there is almost nothing? And also why is my fucking school asking for a game, that actually only developers with a lot of experience can create. They only taught us the very basic things of AS3, I have to Google a lot of things and I’m running in compile errors almost too many times. I stopped being an IT student for a very clear reason two years ago, because I sucked at Java!
Well, typing my frustrations here really helped me to blow off steam. Oh wait, this is Anime Onsen and it the blogposts are supposed to be anime or otakuism related. Let’s start with the actual review of Battle Royale two. There are actually two versions of the second movie: “Requiem” and “Revenge”. The last one is an extended version of the movie.
In the second movie the main character, Shuya Nanahara comes back for revenge. He is a wanted terrorist and he declares wars to the adults! I finally understood why those adults were trying to kill those kids. There are too many youngsters in the world and they want to separate losers from winners in the “game”. The winners are the survivors of the game. The rules of the game are almost the same in the second movie, but the students have to kill Shuya Nanahara and not each other this time.
The movie is an action thriller, but there was no much horror. The horror aspect was much more in the first movie of Battle Royale, but there is a lot more action in the second movie. It was almost like looking at someone playing the game Counterstrike or Battlefield. I prefer thrillers over war movies, so I am not very enthusiastic about this film. What do you think of Battle Royale in general? And if you haven’t watched the movie yet, some fucking pirate dude uploaded the whole movie on Youtube! However, I really hope that you are going to buy more Japanese products if you want to support Japan these dark days after the disaster.
