Two guys become one!
Live ActionAnd with that interesting statement I make my first appearance, even introducing a new category at the same time. No, this isn’t a witty remark referring to Yaoi, it’s about a popular Japanese Tokusatsu series. I’ll not go into further detail on that term here, but I probably will in another post.
The series is Kamen Rider W, with the W pronounced like the Japanese do, which is just double. This is because the two lead guys have to henshin together to become the titular hero as one.
Like most Toku nowadays, it is still a children’s series, meaning it has it’s fair share of silliness. Except that the Japanese make very different children’s programs from the West. Which mainly becomes clear from older Toku series.
Short explanation for the series then….
Shotarou is the main character and as an Half-boiled detective wearing his trademark hat he solves crimes in Windy City. Philip is his partner and walking encyclopaedia who can enter the world wide web, mentally. Together they become Kamen Rider W to fight the Dopants rampaging in Windy City. Akiko is their landlady and armed with a slipper she is a Tsundere to be feared.
And as they say, a picture says more then a thousand words, but a video also says more then a thousand pictures, so I’ll give you the intro if the above left you interested or completely confused.
And yes, that armor must be awfully cosy…
