Methadone for pedos

Today a friend of mine send me an interesting article from a Dutch newspaper named “De Pers”. The title was called “It is always better than real kids” and one of the large headings on the first news papers you could read the title “Methadone for pedophiles”.

De Pers

Sorry for not posting much lately, I had some trouble at home with my parents these days. I guess I will never be their dream child. Never mind me, lets talk about the article. Minister Opstelten thinks all anime, manga, hentai and drawings of children are a form of child pornography. However some experts think they are a safe alternative for pedos. What do you think of lolicion and stuff? Should it be illegal here in the Netherlands or make it a safe and legal alternative for those loli fans?

It seems that the writer of the article doesn’t understand anything about the Japanese and anime culture. He used pictures from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien from Studio âge and Hatsukoi Gentei from Mizuki Kawashita/Shueisha? Well something like that, I don’t know the series, but it seems those series have nothing to do with pedophiles. They should have just added some censored pic and I am 100 percent sure that they didn’t ask the copyright holders. They should, because they are a national newspaper.

The article begins with a situation of a hentai game and introduces the subject virtual porn to the reader. They described a scene from a game on a popular Dutch gaming site. You know, those sites like Newgrounds with a lot of Flash games.

A Dutch guy had also been arrested of having a virtual porn collection on his PC. He was sentenced for two years of jail. I’m not sure what he did, but in my opinion it all depends on the person, no matter if its virtual or not. Maybe I will go to prison too if I show them my figurines, posters and my hard-disk. I found the complete digital version of that newspaper for my Dutch readers.

Seriously what is art and what is porn? I don’t understand authorities these days, maybe she just dislikes the Japanese culture and it isn’t really about pedos. Should I reread all my posts and remove all possible “pedophilic” content? Pedoism should be illegal, but not in this way.

Well it’s the same like every Gamer is a killer in the future.

It really depends on the people. I don’t think 2D loli will awake your pedo in you. It needs the person that is looking at such stuff.

Will he get sexually active after seeing a real kid or not. That’s the problem.
Not everyone is a pedo. Those are the exrtem situation. And those like food for the mass media.

    About the article:
They just took what ever they could find. I don’t think they even know what they used really.

Pedobear will approve this post if there is the full picture of that banner!

Pretty much IBR sums up what I am gonna say now.

This isn’t an easy issue. All those theories are like smoke to me, they’ll vanish in the air. The most important topic here is not what paedophiles have in their minds, but stop hurting people, kids, no less.

So do you think making these anime, manga products illegal will help?

      • http://www.animeonsen.com/members/basskuroi/ Carrot Glace

No! no way! I think real life and animesphere are separate worlds.
        They aren’t directly linked.

Spotted this yesterday thanks to alert from a friend on Flickr. Glad to see there were several comments next to mine highlighting the images they used do not fit the subject and asking if they actually got permission to use those copyrighted images.
(It’s actually studio âge of course, blasted typo. T_T )

To put it sarcastically, guess the government in the Netherlands doesn’t have any real pressing issues to handle so they can unduly link anime to pedophilia.

What’s actually hurting for anime/manga fans is that by using these unrelated images the writers/newspaper imply that if you like this art, you’re a pedophile.

The news is just very subjective in this country. They just mix up everything like most of the time, without looking at the facts or doing any research. As long the reader is satisfied with the text.

      • http://bluebluewave.wordpress.com/ Smithy

I always knew it, those blasted Dutch barbarians of the North! XD
Alas, the news isn’t any better here, luckily though anime/manga and the likes have never really been targeted (so far…).

Where are you from? Belgium? Yeah the Ducth always have a big mouth about other countries and their media censorship and fake stories. They are not very much better.

First of all, I believe journalists have the right to use copyrighted images as long as their purpose is to support the article, and not make a profit out of it. It’s called Fair Use.

And what this generally simmers down into is “fuckpuppets that know nothing about something acting like they know a lot about it”. It’s happening to anime, games, and generally anything that’s (still) part of nerd culture, the same way as it happened to television, rock & roll and books, and as it will happen to holodecks in the future.

The solution to this? We need our own Rozen Aso (Japanese Prime minister, and quite fond of manga). It may sound somewhat pretentious, but what I mean is that we need to prove that anime fans can be “respectable members of society” too.

How? Simple. Just do what you do best for a living, and NEVER hide your fondness for anime. If you hide that from the knobheads on the streets, it’ll only make them think it’s something that’s SUPPOSED to remain hidden. Now, I’m not telling you to verbally ejaculate your hobbies in everyone’s face and wear a shirt with a… scantily clad… robustly endowed female character to your gran’s funeral. Just… be honest about it. I know it’s hard, (well for most of us, there are some exceptions. I’m looking at you, Otaku.) but it’ll be for the better.

…Oh dear. I went on an idealistic, pretty optimistic rant again. Apologies.

Oh, and Smithy, if you borrowed your name from what I recognize it from, I love you and you get one big eCookie. I’m probably wrong though.

I didn’t read the whole wiki page, but I did read the Dutch version on Wikipedia. The US fair use policy thing is not the same as the Ducth version of it. In the American fair use they refer it to “use” and here it is more like a “quote” We usually mention the authors name when we quote things right? I think it is not really a fair use issue, but more a license issue. Did the artist use an open license or a closed one or in other words copyright or copyleft. Copyleft has many varieties though, usually they have to mention the author of it before they can share, modify and redistribute any of its works. But I personally don’t think that the makers of those series used something called a creative commons license, probably just copyright like most people will do.
And you are totally right, we need our own Rozen Aso! Currently typing all this shit while holding a dakimakura of a young girl.

Myeah, I’m not particularly fluent in Legalese. But this is how I see it:

An article on a website about, say, the bad influence of anime uses a copyrighted image, without permission from the creator. The creator notices this, complains because it’s slander and ties his creation to paedophilia, and the article must be removed for copyright infringement. This might seem like positive, but it then it leads to this situation.

A website publishes a review about an anime, in which it is considered a horrible piece of shite, and is called “a waste of the viewers money”. Again, the creator notices it, complains because it’s slander and ties his creation to paedophilia, and the article must be removed for copyright infringement. You see where it gets fuzzy? This essentially gives the creator an effective weapon to silence the critics and only let the good reviews make it to the public.

        Think that’s a bit far-fetched? Think again.

        • http://www.animeonsen.com/members/admin/ Otaku

Thats probably also the reason why people started the copyleft bla bla bla shit

        • http://www.animeonsen.com/members/admin/ Otaku

All licenses have their good and bad sides, but people will misuse it in the end.

True. Anything that can be used, will be abused. Just like dynamite and escalators.

    This article is bullcrap man!
They should look at the person who are really insane in the midbrain, not to innocent anime fans!! I know that the idea of Lollicon is wrong, but it’s only drawn! The men or women that watch this things not really like Karel Noten or something! They must investigate all the stuff of all the suspicious people and not the other people… It’s just a dude with not enough braincells to understand the difference between fantasy and reality! I think that the government must focus on other stuff like corruption by all the city communities, for example here in the city of Oss are people in this community that misuse their might and use that for their own sake, they promised de ruwaard district an Johan Cruyff Court but it never came to us, instead they built an empire of an building for their own to make all the thing wannabe beautiful.. it’s just a corrupt government and all the weak and poor must pay for the sakes of the rich and wealthy!

By the way, this reminds me of an interesting thread on the Escapist, a few months ago. (Can’t find it anymore though…) It was something about whether paedophiles should be castrated, or sent to a mental institution or something. Doesn’t really matter anyway.

One of the comments was made by a guy claiming to be a paedophile, and I doubt that’s something anyone would say just to be cool. He claimed that he absolutely loves little girls, but would never have his way with one of them BECAUSE HE LOVES THEM AND DOESN’T SEE THEM AS A SOMETHING FUCKABLE. Instead, he generally avoids being close to ‘em, (not like that, you sick dolt, I mean like babysitting and such) and instead searches for his relief in (you guessed it) lolicon material. He also feared that, if such materials were to be outlawed, He’d have to order a one way ticket on the Sunshine Bus.

I think that’s pretty much proof (as far as you can call “something someone said on a forum” proof) that all paedophiles are child-molesting maniacs that flip out their stiffy around children, and that some are actually aware that “having their way” would harm what they love so much, and just wank to a drawn image of a little girl, to put it bluntly. Thus, the presumed paedofuel becomes a paedoretardent.

DISCLAIMER: NO I AM NOT TRYING TO SAY ALL PAEDOPHILES ARE ACTUALLY MISUNDERSTOOD GOOD GUYS I AM JUST SAYING NOT ALL OF THEM ARE MARC DUTROUX’S… ES.

Too lazy to read all the discussion going on here, but I do want to add I honestly dislike lolicon and rape hentai. But being the sexually tolerant country we are, I still don’t think it should be banned. Everyone can just watch whatever they want I think. As long as they don’t commit any crimes in real life.

The way anime is portrayed in this news article however is disgusting. This is honestly why it takes months for me to confess to someone what my real hobbies are. It just makes me so damn uncomfortable that anime is very often immediately associated with hentai in the Netherlands. Frown In my own experience at least…
