How to print a DVD cover

I hate to admit it, but even I don’t buy every anime I like, because we all know you can download fansubs for free. This fansub business is of course not always a legal thing to do, but it seems anime makers don’t have much problems with unlicensed anime. I’m not gonna give you a whole list of anime fansub groups and streaming websites, because Google is already the best tool to search for anime.

I’m gonna talk about custom made anime fan covers. This tutorial is very useful for the ones who like to print their own DVD covers. In this first tutorial I will explain you where to download high resolution DVD covers and how to print these in the right format for your DVD case. In the past I used to download a lot of anime and burn it to DVD. I always printed a DVD cover and sometimes a disc label too. Sometimes I even designed my own covers in Paint Shop Pro or something similar to Photoshop.

What you will learn in these tutorials:
- How to print a DVD cover
- Design your own DVD cover
- Differences in DVD discs and the best ways to burn a disc
- How to print disc labels
- Converting fansubs to DVD’s

and probably many more things you should know to make your own perfect anime DVD. I may also write some tutorials about custom audio discs and Blu-ray in the future.

Let’s start with the question: “Where can I download high resolution DVD covers?” I remember one website with a lot of anime covers, it’s called Anime Covers Fan You will find very high quality fan covers in French and English on the website. There are of course other awesome websites out there, but I really used to download a lot from this website, so I really recommend it!

The tools you need:
1 Winrar, Winzip or 7zip to decompress .zip and .rar files
2 Nero Cover Designer or Cover XP to edit and print your DVD cover
3 Printer and paper to print the design
4 Scissor or paper-cutter

I made a video tutorial to help you:

What paper and printer should I use?
There are special papers for printing DVD covers on the market, but some thin photo paper should be fine too! Almost every inkjet printer should be good enough to print a simple design.

The software:
Cover XP is an alternative for Nero Cover Designer and they are both easy to use software. In the video tutorial I used Nero Cover Designer, but you can also use Cover XP or other software.

Well that’s it for today, I hope this tutorial was helpful to you Smile
